The subtle enticement of riding - I often think we get lulled into inattention - especially when there is nothing but pure enjoyment in our heads. Avioding an accident by going down is a rough route but glad you missed what I assume must have been much more serious.
I wiped my leg - wearing short pants - across the exhaust header of a two stroke engine in 1980 - took 17 years to get back on the road on a regular basis.
My admonition about the direction in which rubber must be kept tries to capture the best advice because as you have learned - letting the rubber get to any location other than down - generally leads to bent/broken bikes and very unhappily bent and broken bodies.
You were lucky - and likely will not make the same mistake again - but I do beg you to pay more attention to rule #1
